Sealed with His Spirit

April 29 | Ephesians 1:13-14

“In whom also you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, in whom also when you believe, having been sealed with the promised Holy Spirit who is the down payment of our inheritance until the redemption of possession to the praise of His glory.” (Ephesians 1:13–14)

Every head of a government has His own personal seal, an image conveying His authority. It makes the contents authentic. Ancient kings had a signet ring placed upon hot wax that dried, and that seal proved its contents belonged to that king.

Jesus put His seal of authority on you when He saved you. This seal is different. It’s not just a representation of Jesus. The Holy Spirit is the Seal, God’s presence within you. He promised the Spirit in your salvation. He saved you when you heard His Word and believed. The Spirit is special. Some use “guarantee,” but it doesn’t mean you are guaranteed heaven. It’s a down payment promising a glimpse of heaven’s glory.

The Spirit, when He seals you, is the down payment, the foretaste of heaven. His presence in you is a small part of forever. The Spirit wants you to know God’s presence in you all the time. So He dwells inside of you, giving you a glimpse of the great worth of your glorious inheritance.

Action Step: Ask the Spirit for His guidance. He dwells in you, but many don’t realize His power and presence. Seek Him as He walks with you. He comes alongside you.

Holy Spirit, thank You for giving me a glimpse of Your presence with me forever in heaven. Give me Your power to live life victoriously for You today. Share Your presence with me and guide me. Pour out Your great gifts into me.
