April 28 | Ephesians 1:11-12

“In whom also having been chosen (as God’s portion), having been predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, that we who were hoping beforehand in Christ to the praise of His glory” (Ephesians 1:11–12)
I enjoy watching The Antiques Roadshow when people who don’t realize their treasures’ values are high. When they get their items appraised, they didn’t know what was in their possession. Everyone wants an inheritance, a remembrance of their relatives, or something to fall back on.
You have the greatest inheritance from God, heaven and dwelling in His presence forever. It’s worth stepping through death’s door to eternity. The moment He saved you, He has predestined you, planned beforehand that this inheritance is yours.
This is your God who works all things according to His will. It’s for your good, even if it doesn’t feel like it. He’s working things out for your holiness. He molds and shapes you now for the finished work in heaven.
You have hoped in Jesus, all God’s promises. He never fails in His promises. You wait for the hope of Jesus’s return, the completed work of history. It will not disappoint. Keep on living for the praise of His glory.
Action Step: Consider it pure joy when you face these trials. They strengthen your faith and character. They make you lean on Jesus and hope for His return. Live to please Jesus alone.
Jesus, it’s hard right now to hope in Your promises. But I know deep down You are the Lifter of my head. You never leave or fail me. So I trust in this moment that a new chapter is being written. I live for Your praise and glory to be seen in me.
