December 26 | Jeremiah 29:13; Matthew 6:33
“You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13, ESV)
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33, ESV)
There are only a few days left in this year. This is the time most people turn to New Year’s resolutions, or call them something else. Many people look to their own willpower to make desirable changes. Even if you just set new priorities, make sure they are the right ones.
My biggest problem when I think about the new year is that I put too much on my plate. Then I am upset with myself when I cannot keep up with my new agenda. I have high aspirations but I don’t think first about what I am capable of in one day.
Perhaps you are the same way. The best priority you can set is to start with your relationship with the Lord. Are you where you want to be in your relationship with Him? Why not start with commitments to Jesus first?
But aspirations are not enough. What resources will help you grow closer to Jesus? Start with prayer. Talking to Him is one of the best ways to grow close to Him. Bible reading is good, too. But I have found there are books, sermons, and other resources in the Christian community to help me grow close to the Lord.
Action Step: Make time for the Lord this coming year. Make growing closer to Jesus your highest priority. What can you do for His Kingdom in the coming year?
Jesus, I want to grow closer to You this year. Show me how. I know only You can change things about me that don’t please You. Help me prioritize our Relationship this year.
