May 24 | Acts 4:12
“But Peter and the apostles answered, saying, “We must obey God
rather than people.” (Acts 5:29)
Some people give up on Jesus when the going gets tough. They are only interested in following Jesus until things get hard, and then they want to try something else. But You must not serve Jesus only in the good times. To be His disciple, you must follow Him in the hard times. Following Jesus in the hard times brings greater reward.
Jesus walks with you through the valleys. He blesses you with His presence. A disciple of Jesus continues to follow Him and not give in to challenging pressures to your faith and relationship with Jesus.
Peter and John faced political dangers to follow Jesus, but they faced the danger of losing their lives. Instead of giving in, they declared open-throated, “We must obey God rather than men.”
What’s your price? They say every person has their price, the point of no return they give in and take the price they are offered. Are you in it for the long haul? Are you willing to suffer with Jesus even unto death?
Like Peter and John, you must be thick-skinned in persecution. You are sticking with Jesus. They can threaten you, your family, your resources, and anything else. But they can’t take Jesus from you.
Action Step: Commit now to staying with Jesus no matter what trials and dangers you face. When you commit, when trials and persecutions come, your commitment is solid, and you can keep your promise to Jesus.
Jesus, I commit myself, my life, body, and resources fully to you. I know they are in good hands. I know you will protect in everything I face today.
