June 22 | Revelation 2:17

“The one who has an ear, let him hear what the spirit says to the churches. To the victor I will give him from the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name has been written which no one knows except him who holds fast.” (Revelation 2:17)

Very few of us experience a relationship so intimate and special that it is hidden away from the world. Marriage is a special relationship but not every marriage has that aspect to it. And yet this is what Jesus calls us to.

The church in Pergamum worshiped God in the midst of Satan’s dwelling place. They stayed true to Jesus despite the evil and wickedness raging around them. And yet they tolerated in their midst some of these wicked practices.

They let the world around them influence them even though they looked strong and stood against most of the world. Jesus knows you better than you know yourself. He will not tolerate even an inch of corruption and complicity with the world.

Jesus expects holiness and for you to practice his high standards. You can’t just do it in front of the world. You’ve got to do it when no one’s looking. The world can’t take Jesus away from you. Hide yourself in himI yourself.

Hold on to Jesus. The hidden things of God belong to you. When you overcome this world and its evil things Jesus shares hidden manna for your provision and gives you a name no one else knows. Keep your relationship exclusive with Jesus.

Action Step: Stay close to Jesus and don’t let the world influence you. Influence the world for Jesus with every opportunity you get.

Lord Jesus, keep me from the evil in this world. I want to serve you with my whole being. Keep me pure and humble in your presence. I hide myself in you.
