Momentary Suffering

June 9 | 1 Peter 1:6-7

Daily Bread

“In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” (1 Peter 1:6–7)

Some people have a low tolerance for pain while others have a high tolerance. There are different pain management systems I tried to distract myself from thinking about it, or imagining the time it ends.

Peter says there is a a day coming when pain will and. We suffer trials now but they will soon be over. Even in grieving and suffering, you have joy because you know Jesus is returning and is working on your character.

You suffer in pain and trials, but look forward to the day when you will see Jesus face-to-face. These troubles are the ultimate price to be with Jesus forever. They test your faith now.

But if you hold on to your faith and trust Jesus’s promises are true you will see the finish line. See Jesus embracing you and telling you, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” All these momentary trials and sufferings are worth it to see Jesus.

Action Step: Continue to serve Jesus despite suffering. It is momentary and fleeting. Eternity speeds toward you with every passing minute. Don’t let the winds and the waves take your eyes off of Jesus.

Precious Lord Jesus, I expectantly wait and hope for Your return soon. As a waste I work for You in this world. I know my sufferings have an ending in Your return for me. I rejoice because of Your work in me. Even so, Lord, come quickly!!
