A Second Chance

June 1 | Jonah 3:1-3

Daily Bread

“Then it happened that the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time, saying, “Arise! Take yourself to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it the message I will speak to you.” So Jonah arose and took himself to Nineveh as the Lord had commanded, and Nineveh was a great city to God, three days distance.” (Jonah 3:1–3)

Most people are willing to give you a second chance. They realize we’re not perfect and we get it wrong sometimes. But for many, that second chance is your last chance. There’s only a little bit of grace.

God’s word for Jonah came a second time. Would it have come a third time? We can’t even begin to understand the balance between God’s sovereign will and working with our free will. This time is different.. He gets up, brushes off the big fish bile and starts walking toward the great city of Nineveh. God had a message for them, a message of judgment.

God’s grace is wide and deep. He cares greatly for you and doesn’t take His call away from you. He wants to minister to others through you. He gives you a second chance to serve Him. But you must take full advantage of His gr notes done acious gift of another opportunity.

Action Step: Take every opportunity to serve the Lord when He calls on you. He has much grace and wants to work through you. Stand and do everything the Lord tells you to do.

Lord Jesus, thank You for the opportunity to serve You. I am honored that You pour out Your grace and allow me another chance to do Your will. Your grace is greater than I ever hoped. I will go and glorify You.
