December 25 | Matthew 2:13
“Now after they went away, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph, saying, “Arise, take the child and His mother and flee to Egypt, and be there until I order you, for Herod is about to search for the Child to kill Him.”” (Matthew 2:13)
Many things could have gone wrong and snuffed out Jesus’s life before it really began. King Herod was after Him to protect his throne. He was so ruthless he killed boys two years and under in Bethlehem. As the King He had the resources to track Jesus down.
The Magi could’ve returned to tell King Herod where Jesus was. God protected His Son using His vast network of Angel messengers. He sent an angel to the Magi to warn them not to return to King Herod. When King Herod got too close, God sent an angel to Joseph.
The angel warned Joseph to flee to Egypt. He would tell Joseph when to return safely. Joseph was obedient to take Mary home as his wife and two protect Jesus from King Herod. When it was safe to return Joseph used wisdom when divine revelation didn’t happen.
He settled his family in Nazareth away from Bethlehem and the prying eyes of King Herod. God protects all His children. He gives you wisdom to understand your situation and rely on Him to guide you. He assures your safety by all means necessary.
Action Step: Listen to the Spirit and follow His instructions. He protects you from those who intend evil against you. He watches over you as His chosen child.
Thank You Jesus for your protection over all these years. You guard me against all dangers in this world. You protect my reputation and bless me. You have been so good to me. I praise Your mighty name!
