“Therefore, since we also are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, taking off every hindrance and the sin that so easily entangles, let us run with endurance the race set before us, looking to Jesus, the Founder and Perfecter of the faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the Cross, scorning the shame, having been seated at the right hand of God’s throne.” (Hebrews 12:1–2)

If you watch sports long enough you realize there is a leader, if not several, on every team. No matter the sport there are captains. Football has a quarterback, but there are team captains. Baseball has team captains and leaders whether you see or hear about them.

But you have the best Leader known to all of humanity. The writer of Hebrews describes Jesus as the Founder and Perfecter of our faith. He is the Founder through His teachings, ministry, death on the Cross, and resurrection from the dead. No other religion claims such a great Leader.

Jesus perfects you in your fight against former desires, temptation, and sin. He inspires you to run the race for Him. Jesus gained victory through His death on the Cross. Though everyone saw it as an object of torture, Jesus made it an object of grace and victory.

Everything is against you in this world. But each one of these obstacles can become objects of victory for you. Stand in the power and victory of the Cross and see Jesus’s glory revealed through you.

Action Step: Follow Jesus, the Founder and Perfecter of your faith. He gives you the strength to be victorious in every battle you face today.

Lord Jesus, thank You for Your victory over sin, death, Hell, and the grave! Nothing I face can defeat me because of Your example. You fight for me and You always win. Show me how to be victorious in my battles today.
