August 4 | Hebrews 11:3, 6

“By faith we understand that the universe had been created by God’s word, so that what is seen had not been made out of what is visible.” (Hebrews 11:3)
“And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for the one drawing near to God must believe He exists and that He is a Rewarder of those who keep seeking Him.” (Hebrews 11:6)
Everyone has faith. When you flip the light switch, you expect the light to turn on. When you sit on a chair, you expect you won’t crash to the floor. When you turn the key in your car, you expect the engine to rev up.
The writer of Hebrews says all faith begins with believing in God. We can’t please God without faith. We start at square one, believing in God’s existence. Genesis begins by saying God existed before creation. You can’t keep reading the Bible without believing God exists and is powerful. God creates everything we see out of what we don’t see. He made something out of nothing. He did it with His voice. When He spoke, things happened. It’s the same way today.
You must also have faith that God rewards those who seek Him. If you didn’t believe that, you would have no reason to draw close to God. There are great benefits to knowing God. When you seek Him, you will find Him. God wants to know you, and He wants you to know Him.
Action Step: Grow deeper in your relationship with God. Explore the benefits of knowing Him. When you draw near to God, He draws near to you.
Heavenly Father, I want to know You more. I believe in You and I believe in Your power. Speak Your blessings into my life. Reveal Yourself to me. Show me Your glory. Let me bask in Your presence.
