God’s Lavish Grace

April 27 | Ephesians 1:7-10

Daily Bread

“In Him, you have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of trespasses according to the riches of His grace, which He lavished on us in all wisdom and insight, making known to us the mystery of His will according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Him, to the administration of the fullness of the times to bring together all things in Christ, things in the heavens and things on earth in Him,” (Ephesians 1:7–10)

The greatest gift you can give surprises the receiver. They have no idea you knew they wanted it. They don’t know how to respond. Or they didn’t know they needed it.

When Jesus saved you, He gave you the greatest gift. One is redemption, described as the forgiveness of sins. Jesus bought you back from the grip of death. Through His blood shed on the Cross, He paid for your sins.

God forgave your sins, bringing freedom. Your sins created a chasm no one could cross. Jesus built a bridge over this “no man’s land” by His grace. The price was high, but you were worth it to Him.

He lavished His grace on you. He made you His own. God left little breadcrumbs of His plan before Jesus. When Jesus died on the Cross, the mystery hidden in the Old Testament was revealed. God bided His time until the perfect moment, and then Jesus came for you.

Action Step: Glorify God for His hidden plan revealed in Jesus. He brought you back from sin, shame, and death. You belong to Jesus because of redemption and forgiveness. Forgive others as Jesus forgave you.

Jesus, thank You for buying me back from the dead. I long to serve You and I am thankful to belong to Your family. Your plans are wise and perfect. Thank You for pouring out Your lavish riches of grace on me.
