Be Strong and Courageous

April 15 | Joshua 1:9

“Have I not commanded you: be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you walk.”” (Joshua 1:9)

Are you afraid to step out and fulfill your God ordained destiny? God had to push and prod Moses and Joshua into their calling. Moses objected four times to leading Israel. And Joshua felt he was was unprepared to take Moses’ mantle of leadership.

But that’s just it. Moses had been grooming him for the position for many years. No matter how competent you feel, there will always be that lingering question in the back of your mind. But God knows how to encourage you. He told Joshua three times to be strong and courageous. God was already going to do great things in his life and through him for Israel.

So it’s time for you to be strong and courageous, to step out in faith and fulfill the ministry God has for you. He has people waiting to be ministered to by you. The greatest part of God’s encouragement for Joshua is that his presence will go with him.

As a believer, God’s Holy Spirit dwells within you. His presence goes with you everywhere. When God is with you, there’s nothing he puts before you that you cannot do. He gives you the strength and the power to accomplish his plan and mission for you.

Action Step: Step out in faith. Listen to God’s voice through his Spirit. Rely on him for the strength and power to fulfill his mission for you. What has he called you to do? Do it with all your might.

Holy Spirit, give me your power and strength to do mighty things for God. Jesus has called me to change my world for him. Give me divine opportunities to share my faith and minister to people’s needs. Go before me and prepare my way.
