August 20 | John 14:6
“Jesus said to him, “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life.
No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6)
Men have trouble asking for directions. Even if they know they are lost they will continue down the road. The worst thing that could happen is asking someone else for help.
Jesus comforts His disciples as He goes to the Cross. Philip asks Jesus how to get to Him. They want to be with Jesus. But the y won’t go to the Cross and die with Him. Jesus’s profound answer echoes through eternity. He is the Way to righteousness and eternal life. He tells them no one comes to the Father except through Him. Only Jesus takes you to Heaven. You must follow Jesus if you want eternal life.
Later, Pilate interrogates Jesus when He says everyone who is of the truth listens to Him. Pilot asks, “What is truth?” But He leaves before Jesus tells Him that He is the Truth. Truth is not, “Everyone’s personal truth.” Truth is Jesus Christ. Only by following Him will you find the Truth.
Jesus says He is the Life. Only He gives eternal life to you. If you want to know God for eternity, you must follow Jesus. Your eternal Life only comes from Jesus. As you seek Jesus, you will be on the way to the Father, find God’s Truth, and receive eternal Life in Jesus.
Action Step: Seek Jesus and your eternal destiny is found only in Him. Don’t look to other ways, truths, or promises of eternal life.
Jesus, I trust in You for eternal life. I will follow you because you are the only Way to Heaven. Keep me from searching for other truths. You are my Source for eternal truth and life. I am satisfied in You alone.
