Reassurances

July 3 | Genesis 46:2-4

Daily Bread

“And God spoke to Israel in night visions and said, “Jacob! Jacob!” And he said, “Here I am.” And He said, “I am the God of your fathers. Don’t be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make you a great nation there. I Myself will go down with you to Egypt, and I Myself will bring you up again, and Joseph will close your eyes with his hand.”” (Genesis 46:2–4)

We all want to know what’s going to happen in the future. We may not want to know everything in detail, but we want to have an idea of how things will turn out. In the midst of trials we want to see the other side.

Jacob had learned to trust the Lord implicitly. He and His family had the opportunity to go down to Egypt to see his son Joseph. But he had great trepidation about whether it was the right move. The Lord came to Jacob in visions and reassured Him that his future was still bright. The time to be in Canaan was over. But it would return. While God assured him of his future. He did not tell Jacob every detail.

God didn’t tell Jacob it would be over 400 years until His people would return to Canaan. He only told Jacob that he would die in the presence of his beloved son Joseph. Even though God doesn’t tell us all the details, He reassures you that He has a plan for your life.

Action Step: God has a great future planned for you. He won’t share every detail, but you know He will take care of you. Trust God for your teacher, and He will bless you lavishly.

Jesus, I know You have a great future planned for me. No matter what happens in my trials I trust You to guide me through. Bless what I do for You and bring me into the great promises You have given me.
