June 16 | Genesis 15:5-6
“Then He took him outside and said, “Looked to the heavens and count the stars, if you are able to count them.” Then He said to him, “This shall your offspring be.” And he believed the Lord, and it was counted to him as righteousness.” (Genesis 15:5–6)
It’s hard for us to believe some people’s word. Perhaps they have let you down in the past. Or maybe they don’t give you an accurate representation of a conversation or an event they were part of. But you can take others at their word.
You can always trust the word of the Lord. Abraham was concerned about his legacy and the inheritance he will leave behind. At the time he would die childless and give his entire legacy to an unrelated servant.
Abraham was 75 years old when God promised him an heir. Isaac was born when he was 100 and Sarah was 90. They waited 25 years from God’s promise to its fulfillment.
Abraham’s faith wasn’t perfect in those 25 years. But God still counted his faith as righteousness. Abraham trusted God’s word for 25 years. How long have you waited for God’s word to become your reality in your situation?
No matter how preposterous God’s word sounds to us, if he said it he’ll do it. He works in his timing, but you must believe what he has promised. The reality of God’s promise is based on your faith in his word, not the time it takes.
Action Step: Trust in the word God gives you. No matter how long it takes he will do what he says. Be persistent in your faith in the meantime.
Jesus, I trust your word is true. Thank you for fulfilling the promises and word in my life. I continue to ask you to do what you said and wait on your timing, for your timing is perfect.
