Bread of Life

August 15 | John 6:35

Daily Bread

“Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. The one who keeps
coming to me will never go hungry, and the one who keeps
believing in me will never thirst.” (John 6:35)

Everyone has physical needs like food and water that must be met for our survival. We must make sure we are provided for on earth. But Jesus promises you will never be hungry or thirsty again if you come to Him.

Throughout the Gospel of John, Jesus presented Himself with seven “I am” statements that reveal Him to us. The “I am” harkens back to Yahweh’s name. Jesus declares Himself to be Yahweh. But the way He describes Himself after the “I am” explains how He provides for you. Jesus gives a lengthy discussion and teaching about God’s provision in the wilderness for the Israelites. He provided manna from heaven.

This bread from heaven foreshadowed Jesus, the Bread of Life. He came down from heaven, bringing eternal life. He is you are provision, to sustain you. He gives your spirit everything it needs to live.

God sustained the Israelites in the wilderness for is forty with manna from heaven. Now He Has given you Jesus, the Bread of Life who came from heaven. Jesus is all you need.

Action Step: When you need anything, ask Jesus, and He will give it to you. Seek Him above all things and rely on Him for your provision. He is the Word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord.

Jesus, I turn to You in my time of need. I know You are all I need. You provide me with lavish blessings. Sustain me through the storms of life. You are my Bread of Life. You are the Word, the Bread I cannot live without.
