August 2 | Ephesians 2:8

 “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves,
it is God’s gift.” (Ephesians 2:8)

Some people are hard to trust based on our previous dealings with them. They don’t exude confidence when they say, “Trust me.” Maybe that phrase makes you cringe when you hear it from someone who’s let you down in the past.

God’s salvation of your soul is the greatest promise in the Bible. But we rely solely on faith, the belief that God is going to save us. We put our trust in His character and deeds throughout the past. Salvation has three steps. It is first immediate when we come to Jesus, second in becoming holy like Him in preparation for heaven, and final when we go to heaven.

We don’t see the end right now. That’s why we are trusting in God’s character when He says we are spared from His wrath at the end of time. He gives us breadcrumbs along the way to keep our faith strong. We are sealed with the Holy Spirit when we are saved and He lives inside of us.

You can’t save yourself. God saves you as a gift to you of His grace. So you trust in His grace, that Jesus’s suffering on the Cross was for you, and He grants His grace to you. You stand on the rock of His grace, not on the shifting sands of broken promises.

Action Step: Put the full weight of your trust on the rock of Jesus’s grace. He’s never let you down or dropped you before. He never will.

Lord Jesus, I stand on the rock of Your gift of salvation. I know You have saved me because You don’t let me down. Thank You for this firm foundation. Your grace is greater then anything in creation.
