July 5 | Ephesians 2:19-22

“As a result, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but you are fellow citizens of the saints and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the entire building being joined together keeps on growing into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.” (Ephesians 2:19–22)
Most people enjoy their citizenship in their nation and their common bond with other citizens. There’s something about being part of something greater than yourself, your nation. We care for fellow citizens.
While we are thankful for our citizenship in an earthly nation, we are overjoyed that we are citizens of God’s kingdom. You belong to His Church. Jesus gave His life to create a place of unity.
All the divisions of the past are gone among believers. We are part of something greater than ourselves, the Great Commission, Jesus’s mission to save as many as He can before it’s too late. He created peace in His body between all the warring factions. You must not forget about this unity and peace among believers. When you let the world try to bring in its divisions and classes, you destroy what Jesus has created.
Action Step: Never listen to the divisions the world creates. You and the saints around you are on equal footing. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ. Make every effort to maintain the unity of the body of Christ.
Lord Jesus, You are King over Your Church. I know You suffered greatly to bring Your unity to me and my brothers and sisters. Make me a peacemaker and one who holds the unity of Your body together.
