June 14 | Genesis 12:10-13
“Then there was a famine in the land, and Abram went down to Egypt to dwell there, for the famine was severe upon the land. And when He was approaching Egypt, He said to Sarai His wife, “Behold, I know that you are a beautiful woman to see, and when the Egyptians see you, they will say, “This is His wife,” and they will kill me and let you stay alive. Please say to them, ‘I am His sister,’ that it may go well for me, and my life will be spared for your sake.”” (Genesis 12:10–13)
Do you trust others to drive your car? Many people balk at the idea of letting other people drive. They want to drive their own car. They trust themselves more than anyone else.
After listening to God and heading in the direction God gave him without questions, Abraham suddenly wants to be in the driver’s seat. This man who exhibited so much faith in the beginning was beginning to play by his own rules. He didn’t trust God to protect his life or wife. So, he schemed to protect himself. But he made an enemy of Pharaoh.
You are not the driver in the car of your life. God is directing your life and story just the way He wants. Interfering ruins your opportunity for His blessing to flow in and through you.
Action Step: Turn over the keys to your life. Let God drive. If you make your own way, you’ll only reach your small goals. But if you let God drive, He will pour out His unimaginable blessings and promises on you.
Jesus, I give You full control over my life. Take me where You want me to go. Show me what You want me to see. I will do what You tell me to do. I surrender my life and everything I am to You.
