“saying, “If you will surely heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His eyes, and listen to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, then I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord your Healer.”” (Exodus 15:26)

In contentious times when we don’t understand what God is doing and why, we don’t respond well. Our “creature comfort” is more important to us. We want God to be mysterious. But in the moment of trial and darkness we want to understand Him completely.

The Israelites were fresh out of Egypt, walking around the wilderness in search of their Promised Land. The before God fulfilled His promise for them, they had to know Him and His ways. They complained when they didn’t get what they want.

But don’t be hard on them. We are the same way. We just don’t want to admit it. They search for water but found none. They eventually found bitter water that probably caused sickness. So they complained again.

When we don’t understand what God is doing we need to be patient instead of complaining. In the wilderness between His promise of healing and its fulfillment leave room for God to reveal Himself to you.

God revealed himself as Yahweh Yireh (Jehovah Jireh), the Lord your healer. That’s the way He wants you to know Him. Rest in the promise of His name. When you know Him more deeply you will see His healing.

Action Step: God knows what you need. He will heal you because it is in his nature. He wants His child to walk in health. Trust him in the in between time.

Jesus, I trust that You are my Healer. My great Physician, I wait on You. I know You want to heal me and are doing it in Your time. Give me patience to know You more as I wait.
