Victory in Defeat

March 11 | Psalm 22:27-28

“All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations will worship before you. For the kingship belongs to the Lord and he rules over the nations.” (Psalm 22:27–28)

I set goals every year for the things I want to accomplish in my life. Rarely do I ever meet all of my goals. There’s always something that falls by the wayside. Something inevitably comes up and throws me off my game to finish my goals on time.

But Jesus didn’t have that problem. He went to the cross in what looked to everyone like defeat. But Jesus had a higher goal than saving himself. He wanted to save you. Because of what he did, Psalm 22 prophesies a great revival of souls throughout the ages.

Everyone will hear about Jesus’ sacrifice for them. To the ends of the earth, all the families of the nations worship Jesus. He is the true King who reigns over the nations. In all of this was his singular focus: your salvation.

Oh how we love the Lord for his sacrifice! Only Jesus could bring such peace to the world. And you are a part of his plan to win the nations. He wants you to tell about his life and sacrifice for you and others.

Action Step: Pick one person in your world who needs to hear the life-saving message of the gospel. Tell them about his love and grace, his sacrifice and resurrection. And most important, make it personal. Tell them how he has saved you.

Jesus, thank you for going to the cross for me. Thank you that your victory wasn’t about yourself, but about me. Give me a person to share your message of good news with today. Give me the words to speak as I talk about how you have changed my life forever.
