My Resurrection and Life

August 18 | John 11:25-27

“Jesus said to her, “I am the Resurrection and the Life. The person believing in Me although he dies, he lives. Even all who live and believe in Me in this age will never die. Do you believe this?” She said, “Yes, Lord. I have believed that you are the Christ, God’s Son, who is coming into the world.”” (John 11:25–27)

Losing a loved one changes you. Death is cold, hard, and final. And though we lose our dearly beloved on this earth we will see them in heaven. But that’s only possible because of the resurrection of those who believe in Jesus.

Lazarus, a dear friend of Jesus, had a sickness and passed away. But Jesus waited to go and see His friend. He wanted to show that He could heal sickness, but He can also raise the dead. Martha met Him on His way to the funeral and asked Him why He didn’t come to heal Lazarus’ sickness.

She believed in Jesus for healing of sickness. And she believed in the resurrection of spirits from the dead. But Jesus wanted to show her that He can raise the dead now and they will be raised in the final resurrection, spirit and body.

Jesus brings complete life and resurrects your whole person. You can trust in Him to not only save all of you but raise all of you in the end. Even in death Jesus brings you hope.

Action Step: You have hope beyond death. You will see Jesus and those who trust in Him with you. Don’t grieve the death of loved ones as the world does. You will see them again.

Jesus, thank you that I will live with You in eternity. You are my hope. You are my life. And you bring me hope after death. I know my Redeemer lives and in the end I will stand with you in paradise. My hope is in You.
