March 28 | Mark 3:22
“And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, “He has Beelzebub, and by the prince of demons He drives out demons.”” (Mark 3:22)
I talk to a lot of people about Jesus. C. S. Lewis famously wrote that views on Jesus declared him to be a liar, a lunatic, or the Son of God. Everyone has an opinion on Jesus. You won’t go far without hearing one of them.
The religious leaders of Jesus’ day were seeking for ways to get rid of him. They tried everything from trying to trip him up to conspiring against him behind his back. But none of these tactics pushed Jesus aside.
One of the ways they tried to dismiss him was to say that he was possessed by a demon and used demonic power to cast out demons. I know, it doesn’t make any sense. But this was what they resorted to.
Jesus reminded them of the dangers of calling the Son of God demon possessed. They held so high the charge of blasphemy, but Jesus was gracious in saying that only blaspheming the Holy Spirit brought the spiritual deathknell to a person’s life.
You’ll hear everyone else have an opinion of Jesus. What do you think of him? Are you deeply in love and service to him? Do you have questions about him? Is anything holding you back from fully investing yourself in knowing and serving him?
Action Step: Search your heart today. Put fears and doubts in front of Jesus’ feet. Lay them down, and don’t pick them up again. Completely surrender your whole life, every facet, hidden sin, nook and cranny, to him.
Jesus, I give my all to you. I pledge my life and allegiance to you. If there’s anything in me that doesn’t glorify you, shine your searchlight on it. I surrender all that I am and have for the sake of serving you.
