June 15 | Genesis 13:8-9
“Then Abram said to Lot, “Let there be no strife between you and me, and between your herdsmen and my herdsmen, for we are kinsmen. Is not the whole land before you? Separate yourself from me. If you take the left hand, then I will go to the right, or if you take the right hand, then I will go to the left.”” (Genesis 13:8–9)
In Bible college I wanted to come home for Thanksgiving break one year but had no way to get there. One of my friends’ dad paid for my airplane ticket. That kind of generosity is still rare in this world.
Abraham wanted to bless his nephew Lot. Unlike Lot, who chose the better land at first glance, Abraham knew God would bless him no matter where he went. His trust in the Lord allowed him to be generous.
Lot would find out later that the greener grass contained Sodom and Gomorrah, and God would annihilate them in his wrath. But his blessing followed Abraham. When you trust in God’s provision and blessing you don’t need to worry about which grass looks greener in your life.
Because you walk with God he will bless you. And as he blesses you, you become a blessing to others. Just keep trusting in his provision and promises for you. Nothing in this world can take his blessings away from you.
You can take God’s blessing and become a generous person. Through your generosity the world will see Jesus. They don’t expect generosity. You become a good representative of Jesus for them.
Action Step: Always choose to be generous no matter what the cost to you. God’s got your back and he will bless you with his provision. His lavish grace is freely yours.
Jesus, teach me to be generous with your blessings in my life. I trust your provision and lavish grace. I know you will continue to pour out your blessings. I want to bless others and represent you.
