Enrolled in Heaven

July 6 | Hebrews 12:22-24

“But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, to the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels, to Festival celebration, and to the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the Judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous who have been perfected, and to the Mediator of the new covenant, Jesus, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks better than Abel’s.” (Hebrews 12:22–24)

I was five years old when I became a Christian. We don’t realize all that Jesus does when we come to him at first. Most Christians have no idea what all their salvation entails. But Jesus has done great things in us, and it doesn’t stop now.

When you became a Christian you became a member of Christ’s body, a citizen of heaven. He has made you a new creature in him, sealed you with his Holy Spirit, and included you in a vast body of believers.

You have come to the mountain of God, to the city of God, the New Jerusalem. Angels are celebrating your homecoming. Everyone around you is being made perfect in Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Now that you’re here, you cheer on others who join this holy assembly. You minister to others through your gifts, encouraging one another in Christ. We’re glad you’re here.

Action Step: Minister to others with the gifts the Spirit has given you. Celebrate new Christians who are now disciples of Jesus. Imagine what it will be like in the New Jerusalem together.

Jesus, thank you for my place in your kingdom and in heaven. Thank you for your sacrifice and all you are doing for me. I’m excited to be part of your body and to serve others. May I glorify you and serve with excellence.
