July 8 | Luke 10:23-24

“And turning to his disciples, he said privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. For I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see what you see but didn’t see, and to hear what you hear but didn’t hear.”” (Luke 10:23–24)

One of my favorite trips was to the Grand Canyon. My dad and I walked six miles around one of the basins in the scene did not change at all. I have never seen anything like that before. That massive, majestic hole in the ground was fascinating.

But our eyes as Christians see an even greater blessing, Jesus our Savior and Lord. The disciples had the privilege of seeing him in person. But we know him through his Spirit. We know him through the works he does in and through us.

Jesus told Thomas that he believed because he saw Jesus’ hands and side. But you have an even greater understanding because you have not seen him and yet trust he is true. You taste and see his goodness every day in your life.

We often spend our time thinking about the big things God has done for us. We think of our salvation, inheritance, healing, and a good life. But God does much more than this. He’s there for us in the big things but he’s also there in the small things. See him everywhere.

Action Step: Pay special attention today to everything God does for you. Don’t just look at the big things he does. Look at every little thing, the shining sun, the chirping birds, and the beautiful trees.

Jesus, you have filled my life with all of these blessings, great and small. I worship you for everything from the amazing to the normal things in my life. You have given me every good and perfect gift.
