Always on My Heart

February 3 | Deuteronomy 6:6-7

“And these words which I myself command you today shall be on your heart. And you shall diligently teach them to your children, and you shall speak of them in your seating in your house, and in your going on your way, and in your lying down, and in your rising up.” (Deuteronomy 6:6–7)

Remember when you were first in love? You couldn’t stop thinking about your “significant other.” Everyone was annoyed around you because you wouldn’t stop talking about them. You ate, slept, and breathed everything about them.

When we love God, we do the same thing. We talk about him all the time. We share him with everyone. We teach our children about God. Whether we are in our house, on the street, when we rise, when we sleep, we live God’s commandments and principles.

It’s just like when you first came to know Jesus. No one taught you how to witness to others. You just did it because you were so happy in him. So what happened? Maturing in Christ doesn’t mean we learn more civilized ways to communicate about him.

As we mature in Christ, we become more passionate about him. We grow deeper in our relationship. We hang on to every word of Scripture we read. We spend longer in prayer. We volunteer more at church. We do what we can to grow closer to him.

Action Step: Don’t let anyone take your passion for Jesus away. Step out in faith today and share Jesus with someone in your world. Don’t be afraid of rejection or the results. Listen to the Holy Spirit for your divine appointment and just do it.

Jesus, I love you so much I just can’t stop talking about you. Renew my passion for you. Give me opportunities to talk about you today. I don’t want people to wonder where I stand on the matters that are close to your heart.
