Welcome to the Divine Discourse Blog

Welcome to the Divine Discourse Blog

The Divine Discourse Blog is host to series dealing with the Christian life. I discuss and teach about the Bible, God, and Christianity. I have a pastor’s heart to serve you with this content, help you draw closer to Jesus, and become a better disciple.

Who I Am and Why It Matters

I started the Divine Discourse Blog to share my writing and my views. I’ve been a Pentecostal all my life and became an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God in 2010. This is what I know and how I worship. I believe people in the Spirit should also be people of the Word, so you will find many references to Scripture as I write.

In September 2013, I became paralyzed from very high on my spinal cord with transverse myelitis acute. This is a new chapter in my life that has lasted since then so far. I believe this is just one chapter of my life’s story. You will find faith, hope, and me trying to live out that faith and hope despite my current circumstances. I believe the most faith filled word for anyone suffering trials and afflictions like me is “yet.”

For instance, “God hasn’t healed me… Yet.” “God hasn’t delivered me from my suffering… Yet.” “God has not finished His work in me… Yet.” The moment you close the door on that statement and don’t use “yet,” you have decided to box God in.

Never do that. It doesn’t turn out well. I tried to understand the crux between faith and current reality, and perhaps help you if you are in the middle of your trial, suffering, and hardship. I write more about my story and how to keep having faith and hope despite your affliction in my book, Healed in the Name of Jesus: Keep Your Faith in God’s Healing Promises.

God can minister more deeply to us through people who deeply understand what we go through. Perhaps the Holy Spirit can use my experiences, faith, and hope to spur you on and encourage you. I am first and foremost like Paul and Timothy a slave belonging to Jesus (Philippians 1:1). I cannot call Him Lord if I tell him no. That is who I am and how he might minister to you through me.

What to Expect on the Divine Discourse Blog

Most of what you will find on the Divine Discourse Blog are topics that concern Christians. That’s not to say you will not learn anything if you are not a Christian but that you may not enjoy the topics or my writing style. It’s my goal to serve all my visitors, but my website has the tagline “Unlocking God’s Word” because I am primarily concerned to do just that, and it benefits Christians the most.

You may be surprised what you find here, and it may actually help you to understand Christianity, the Bible, and the Christian God better. I welcome everyone from all walks of religious faith to read these posts. I pull no punches when I write about a topic. God lays these series and posts on my heart, and my goal is to minister to the body of Christ.

I hope most of all to minister to you in your need. If something I have written in these posts and series ministers to you, helps you, or gives you a way forward, please contact me and let me know. I would love to pray with you and get to know you.

What I Write on the Blog

Every series on the Divine Discourse Blog brings something new and different. The content is always changing. I write about the topics most pastors study, teach, and preach. I want to take you behind the scenes of these topics and help you grow in Jesus.

Some series are short and don’t go into as much depth as some of the longer series. Many of these series are based on the books I have written or provide extra material that just couldn’t fit into the books. A book can only cover so much material, but a blog series can go into more detail and cover things that don’t fit the scope of the book.

I write about things that matter to me, things I have studied in depth myself to either preach or teach on them. You gain the benefit of that research. If you have any recommendations for me or topics you would like to read about, please contact me and let me know.

Who I Write to on the Divine Discourse Blog

If you are a budding disciple, growing in the ways of Jesus, or want to know more about the Bible, the Divine Discourse Blog series and posts are for you. If you are a seasoned Christian with many years of sainthood under your belt, these posts are for you.

You may think writing for Christians is too broad an audience, but don’t forget that there are many Christians in the world, but they are not the only audience that may find this blog interesting.

I want to help you grow in Jesus. I want to help answer the questions that keep you up at night, give you reasons for trusting Jesus through the next trial, and help you have a relationship with Jesus through the Holy Spirit.

I mostly write torrid Pentecostal and Charismatic Christian readers. This is my background and my stream of faith. I believe Pentecostals have much to offer the Christian world. We have a focus on knowing the Holy Spirit and developing a relationship with Him. That’s not to say these writings do not minister to other Christians also.

Just about anyone can find something of benefit and use here. I have also found the Spirit ministering through me and my life situation at this moment in time as a quadriplegic to people who suffer afflictions and hardships I can’t even begin to imagine. You will find a lot of writing about suffering, hardships, and trials in my writing. I write what I know, and I believe every Christian is going through some kind of trial or hardship.

I invite you to take a look around at the whole website, but to especially enjoy any series you find that the Holy Spirit may be ministering to you and may add light to your Johnny in Christ.
