Unity in the Spirit

August 7 | Ephesians 4:4-5

“One body and one Spirit, just as you were also called in one hope when you were called, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. Now to each one of us was given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.” (Ephesians 4:4–7)

We live in a divided world. It seems everywhere you go people are arguing about everything. We have lost the art of compromise and tolerance. Nobody gets along anymore. But there is one place people can get along in unity despite their diversity.

We seek to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the Church. We have so much in common. We share the same Lord, faith, and baptism, to name a few.

When Paul refers to the “one faith” that we share he speaks of Christian doctrine. Faith in God includes understanding the world the way He made it to be. And Christian doctrines tell you what he expects of you.

Understanding Christian doctrine is part of faith. You can’t read the Bible without seeing that every page calls you to dedicate yourself to the Lord. Our doctrines increase our faith.

You learn so much about God as you study the faith. Knowing who He is and how others describe Him will increase your faith. Using your mind to glorify God brings unity of the Spirit. It is one of the ways His Spirit is working in you.

Action Steps: Study the doctrines of your faith and know the Lord in deeper ways. Use your mind to glorify God.

Heavenly Father, the more I learn about You the more I trust You. Increase my faith as I study Your Word and show myself approved. Help me grow deeper in my relationship with You and glorify You.
