Surprised by Progress

This week I finally made some progress on a couple of my books. The main book I am working on right now is Meditations on the Lord’s Supper. This is a book especially for pastors to give them some insight into the Lord’s Supper they can share with the congregation during communion or even has a message.

I have finished a chapter in that book. I am also able to stay ahead of the website and all the posts I was making every week. It has allowed me to stay on task and not feel like I am drowning every day. I still have to get used to looking at a calendar that doesn’t look like I’m putting much on it.

I think that’s just my set nature of wanting to do so many things. It has actually made me more productive. Imagine that! I did not expect that. Soon I will be able to share some of my work in this book with you. I shared a chapter before, or rather an excerpt of a chapter. I will do that again sometime, maybe next week.

I’m also able to stay ahead of my classes I am doing this first part of the year. I really need to get further along with my life group preparations, though. I think that will come in time as I have more time available to work on it and don’t feels that space the strain of too many things happening at once.

What about you? Have you ever tried to lighten the load and see if it will actually help you be more productive? That was a big surprise for me. I challenge you to take just one thing and lessen it. Don’t remove it from your schedule, but find ways to make your load lighter this week. Let me know what happens!
