Day 21: Prayer Focus: Growth in Christ and the Spirit | Colossians 1:9-13
“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,” (Colossians 1:9–13)
On our final day of prayer and fasting, we finish these 21 days by praying for our prayer partners to grow in Christ and in the Spirit. Paul gives a beautiful prayer for the Colossian Christians to grow in Christ and be filled with knowledge of God’s will. Some parts of the Bible tell us what God’s will is.
But there are also times of personal growth where God’s will affects our steps every day. We need His wisdom and guidance to move in godly ways throughout our days. Jesus wants to make us godly people not just for the world to see but for us to be prepared to meet Jesus. He wants a spotless and blameless Church.
Who do you live your life for? Our desire should be to live for the Lord, every decision and action we take to please Him. We want to put a smile on Jesus’s face every day. Take stock of your thoughts, actions, and speech. Do they honor Jesus? With every thought, action, and word we either worship Jesus and show our allegiance to Him, or we give Him a bad name.
These 21 days of prayer and fasting are not over. The attitude and intimacy you have grown in Christ should carry on beyond these days. May you grow deeper in prayer. Let fasting become a normal spiritual practice for you. Practice spiritual disciplines that bring you closer to Jesus every day.
If you are not growing in Christ, you are losing ground. If you are not moving forward, you are losing ground. God has made a program for every Christian to grow into the image of Christ (Romans 8:29-30). Jesus took you out of the darkness and this wicked world, brought you into His Kingdom and family, and will make you more like Him.
