October 26 | Ephesians 6:13
“For this reason, take up the full armor of God with the result that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and after having done everything, to stand.” (Ephesians 6:13)
Many projects have special tools. A plumber has wrenches and other tools to perform his craft. A painter uses paints, paintbrushes, knives, and other tools. Even a preacher uses commentaries, Bible handbooks, and other tools to rightly divide God’s Word.
When you deal with spiritual warfare you must be prepared to go into battle. Paul was probably chained to a Roman soldier when he penned these words explaining the weapons of your spiritual warfare. Without this armor you would be exposed to the enemy as you fight.
You cannot stand firm against the enemy you face without defensive weapons like a breastplate, proper shoes, a belt to hold everything together, a shield, and a helmet to protect you. But it does no good to only play defense. The sword of the Spirit gives you the most efficient and effective weapon to advance God’s Kingdom.
Don’t just study the Armor of God. It’s good to know how to use the weapons at your disposal. But it’s better to know how to use them and go into battle. Prepare for battle, but do battle with power. Use the armor of God. Advance God’s Kingdom and see victory in your life.
Action Step: Put on the armor of God every morning before you face the world. You never know when you will need to fight a spiritual battle. Prepare yourself for every encounter.
Jesus, thank you for the armor of God, for a way to defeat the enemy. I put on the armor, prepared for the battles I will face. Most of all, I rely on You and my relationship with You to give me that authority and power to face and defeat every enemy.
