Signs of Life

June 24 | Revelation 3:5

“The victor will be dressed in this manner in white garments and I will never erase his name from the book of life and I will confess his name to My Father and before His angels.” (Revelation 3:5)

The deer looked lively, swishing its tail and blinking its eyes. The poacher thought he had a clean shot and took it. He knew he hit the deer but it didn’t run or drop dead. The game warden tapped him on the shoulder, taking him into custody, chuckling as he commented, “Those decoys get ‘em every time.”

Everyone around the saints in the Sardis church thought they were alive in Jesus. This church had everything just right, the lights and smoke during worship, the convincing sermons from the pulpit, and the legendary potluck dinners.

But they were spiritually dead. They didn’t know Jesus. Don’t call them to pray. They had a form of religion without relationship. If you feel your relationship with Jesus is nothing more than a formality you still have time.

Wake up and remember what you had at first. Focus on Jesus and allow him to restore you in him. Don’t allow sin to soil your pure white garments. Jesus wants you to join him. Don’t be a dead branch disconnected from Jesus the true Vine.

Though you are in danger of losing your salvation, of having your name blotted out of the Lamb’s Book of Life you can be and overcomer. Jesus wants to give you a pure white robe and keep your name in his Book.

Action Step: Remember your relationship with Jesus and keep him close. Don’t move away from him. Evaluate your life and stay connected to Jesus.

Jesus, I want to remain alive and vibrant, connected to you. Give me your presence and your peace. I want to grow deeper and my relationship with you. I seek you with all of my heart!
