August 24 | Exodus 14:13-14
“Then Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid, take your stand, and see the Lord’s salvation, which he will do for you this day, for the Egyptians you see today you will not see again forever. The Lord will fight for you, and you only have to be silent.”” (Exodus 14:13–14)
I know a few people who are deathly afraid of enclosed spaces. They feel trapped with no way out. In their mind, the ceiling is coming toward them and the walls are getting closer and closer. Sorry if I triggered an experience for you if you are claustrophobic.
Over and over the Israelites complained about what was happening around them. They didn’t believe God would come to their rescue. They yelled at Moses because it was all his fault as their leader. But they chose to leave Egypt with him.
In the heat of the moment it’s all God’s and Moses’ fault. Moses spoke in faith, knowing what God can do so far. He told the people to stand in faith and see God’s salvation. In your biggest nightmare, staring at your overwhelming mountain, stand firm against it and see the salvation of the Lord.
You think you have to solve your problem with your own resources. You don’t look to God to see your salvation. If only you take a moment of silence and watch God do magnificent and amazing miracles, and the problem will disappear.
Action Step: Be still before the Lord. Turn over your trial, your sickness, your impossible situation to the Lord. Watch the miraculous and extraordinary way it disappears.
Jesus, in the stillness and silence I feel Your presence. I turn my trial over to You. You are the God of the impossible. When I am quiet and lay it at Your feet, You do Your best work. Bring me peace in Your stillness.
