Preparing Prophetically

February 21 | Luke 22:10-11

Daily Bread

“And he said to them, “Behold, when you enter into the city you will meet a man carrying a jar of water, follow him into the house in which he enters. Then say to the master of the house, “The Teacher says, ‘Where is the guest room where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’” (Luke 22:10–11)

A lot of people see Jesus as a typical Jewish man in the first century AD. Many nowadays don’t even think he existed. They may be willing to give Christians a pass on the whole Jesus existed situation.

But no one can deny who Jesus was. He had a prophetic nature. Even as he prepares for the Last Supper with his disciples, he shows an ability to know things we can’t possibly know on our own.

It would be one thing to know the owner of the house. Perhaps they did this every year Jesus went to Jerusalem during the Passover. That still doesn’t explain how he knew the man would be carrying a jar of water.

Jesus’ divinity is unmistakable. Even as he sets his face toward the cross, he is still showing his divine ability. He proves even in the small things that he is the Lord who provides everything we need. And he does it with a flare.

Action Step: Jesus knows exactly what you need. He knows where to find it. And he knows how to bless you. He is the ultimate Passover Lamb who died for your biggest need, a right relationship with him. Ask Jesus for whatever you need today.

Lord Jesus, you are my sovereign Provider. You know my needs before I know them. Thank you for going to the cross for my sins. I can speak with you now because of your sacrifice. Bless my ways as I walk in you.
