Preparing for You

February 20 | John 14:1-3

““Don’t let your hearts be shaken! You are trusting in God; keep trusting also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places. But if it were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a space for you. And if I should go and prepare a space for you, I am coming again and will take you with Me, so that where I AM, you also might be. And you have known the way to where I am going.”” (John 14:1–3)

Sometimes it’s nice to just get away. I like to visit new places, to enjoy the amenities at a hotel. People treat you as a guest even though you’re just an average Joe. These places pour out their hospitality on you.

Jesus left this earth to prepare a place for you. But this isn’t a hotel. And you are not a guest. This is a beautiful mansion, and your room is a total living space. Jesus is a good Host, but you are no guest. You aren’t staying for a couple of days. This is your eternity house.

It’s hard to believe the great things Jesus is preparing for you, especially in the day-to-day grind and all of the troubles that come against you. But Jesus has the perfect place and He’s preparing it right now.

In Israel, the bridegroom prepared the house for His bride. After the house was finished, the Father would tell the Son He could go get His bride. Jesus is waiting for the go-ahead from the Heavenly Father. When He comes for you, you will love your eternal home.

Action Step: Think about dwelling with Jesus for eternity. Imagine your new house. Jesus doesn’t skimp on His preparations for His family. It’s okay to daydream about His return and your new home.

Jesus, thank You for preparing an awesome place for me to live with You in eternity. I can’t wait to be in Your presence all the time forever. I can hardly imagine what it’s going to be like. I must confess, I am ready to go now, and excited to see You.
