December 2 | Psalm 37:21-22
“The wicked borrows but does not pay back, but the righteous is generous and gives; for those blessed by the Lord shall inherit the land, but those cursed by him shall be cut off.” (Psalm 37:21–22, ESV)
With every choice you make and action you take you can either hoard your possessions or be generous. Look back at your life decisions and see if you blessed others or took from them. Either you contribute to other people’s lives or you are benefiting from them.
It’s not that we can never benefit from others. I have benefited from the generosity of other ministers and ministries throughout my education and life. But I also attempt to give back to others, to be generous with what I have learned. I truly see myself as a resource for the Church. I want other Christians to learn and grow as I have.
Wicked and unwise people borrow from others but don’t give back. They take and take, hoarding everything they gain. But this is not the way Jesus wants you to be. He wants you to be generous. He has given His blessings to you so you can bless others.
Jesus continues to pour His blessings on those he trusts to represent Him in generosity. When you open your hand to give to others the Lord opens His hand to give to you. But don’t give out of what you don’t have. Give out of the blessing the Lord gives to you.
Action Step: What has the Lord given you that you can give to others? What spiritual blessings have you received that you can pass on to others?
Jesus, thank You for Your many blessings You’ve poured out on me. Show me ways to bless others around me. You have provided more than enough for me. I want to give to others and glorify You in my giving.
