Pastoring

How has being a pastor changed you?

I have had the privilege of pastoring for over 10 years now. I think my favorite part of it is that I feel accountable to God’s people and to his Church. I want to do everything I can to serve the Lord and his people with integrity.

But that desire to serve the church keeps me on my toes. I study long and hard to make sure that I bring the very best in my sermons, Bible studies, devotionals, and books. I want to make sure that they are getting the best information possible and that I also share my heart with them.

It’s a great joy to serve God’s people. I have great respect for everyone following Jesus. I want to be a resource to them. So it brings me great joy when one of them learns something from me and encourages me. Most of all, my joy is overflowing when they tell me that they pray for me.

It’s not because I’m selfish. It’s because when you are on the front lines of the ministry you need that prayer. I can’t think of anything better that I want to do.
