Over Blessed

January 22 | Psalm 23:5

Daily Bread

“You set a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup is overflowing.” (Psalm 23:5)

The stress of dealing with people who don’t want you to succeed at your job or at home can get to you. We all have people in our lives who don’t care about us flourishing. When I have to address such people, I feel my blood pressure rising and my heart pumping faster.

But David never felt that way in the presence of his enemies. Instead, he saw how God prepared a table for a feast. God lavished all His blessings on David and made his enemies watch. God showed His favor to David, and his enemies knew it.

God wants you to see that He has lavished His blessings upon you. You are the guest of honor at His banquet, the oil of blessing port on your head. He fills the table with good food, all your favorites. Your cup overflows. As you raise your arms, He gives you more than you can imagine.

Today, God anoints you with the Holy Spirit. You have the honor of working for Jesus in this world. His Holy Spirit sealed you to serve Him.

Action Step: Bless the Lord from the depths of your soul for His indescribable gifts and blessings in your life. Instead of looking at your problems and troubles, your trials and sufferings, see Jesus’s grace and goodness on you.

Jesus, my Friend, You give me more blessings than I can handle. Thank You for Your Spirit who dwells in me, guides me, gives me wisdom, and makes me holy like You. In the good and bad times today, I will not forget to praise You and rejoice in Your name.
