August 25 | 2 Kings 6:16-17
“And he said, “Don’t you see that greater are those who are with us than those who are with them?” Then Elisha prayed and said, “Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the Lord opened the young man’s eyes and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire surrounding the Elisha.” (2 Kings 6:16-17)
You have two sets of eyes, but you are not “four-eyes.” You have physical eyes you have used since birth. But you also have spiritual eyes to see what God is doing. He is doing miracles all around you, but you have to look with eyes of faith to see them.
Elijah’s servant only saw the Syrian army gathered around them. He reacted in the natural because he could only see one way. How many times have you used your own resources and abilities instead of relying on God’s miraculous care for you?
But when you see what God is doing in the supernatural you would kick yourself in the natural. Here you thought you are on your own, but you are surrounded by God’s great armies. There is never a time when God has left you to your own devices and resources.
You must see with spiritual eyes, your eyes of faith. Then you will see what’s really going on in the natural. We are taught to see with empirical, scientific eyes. But you must open and exercise your spiritual eyes of faith.
Action Step: Ask Jesus to open your spiritual eyes of faith to see what’s actually going on around you. Trust in what you see.
Dearest Jesus, open my eyes that I may see what You’re doing in the world. Let me see how You are protecting me every day. When I feel fear or anxiety, open my eyes to see Your wondrous salvation.
