Day 7: Prayer Focus: Your Prayer Partner’s Family | Ephesians 3:15-19
“from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” (Ephesians 3:15–19)
For many of us, our family is a closely guarded joy. But not everybody has a great family. It’s hard for them to understand what it’s like to be part of God’s family. Christians either have the best of both worlds with two families – their blood relatives and their spiritual relatives, or a godly family in place of a close-knit family on earth.
As you pray for your prayer partner today, lift up his or her family relationships. If they have estranged relationships, pray that they will feel the love and compassion of Jesus and the family He offers. Pray they would grow in Jesus, rooted like a giant oak tree in God’s goodness and love for their earthly and spiritual family. If they have close family ties, pray that God would protect and deepen their relationships with both families.
Whatever your prayer partner is facing with family relationships at home and in the body of Christ, agree that Jesus will continue to strengthen them, to make them feel at home in God’s family, to establish them in love, and to help them grasp God’s greatness and goodness to them. Let Him pour out His lavish riches upon both of you.
We need Jesus’ strength to grasp God’s widemess, depth, breadth, and height. Without that, we cannot experience His everywhere presence, how He permeates our relationships with His goodness, mercy, and love. We need to be examples of God’s love and true family to everyone around us.
