May 27 | Acts 13:2-3
“And while they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Now set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” Then, after fasting and praying, they laid their hands on them and sent them.” (Acts 13:2-3)
I’ve always wanted to follow the Holy Spirit and do whatever He told me to do. There’s nothing like the power of the Holy Spirit ministering through you. I always remember when Moses said, “If you won’t go before us, we will not go at all.
This should be the desire of every Christian. We should seek the Spirit’s power to minister through us. Only He knows what needs to be done for each person we minister to. But what I love about this passage is that and everyone in the church did what He said.
We must be obedient to the Holy Spirit. The people in this church were seeking the Lord, praying and fasting. Then, the Holy Spirit spoke to them. We don’t fast enough. We don’t pray enough. And sometimes, we don’t listen to the Holy Spirit, or even hear Him.
We need to align ourselves with what the Spirit wants to do in and through us. But how can we do this if we do not hear or listen to Him?
Action Step: Make it your goal to pray more and fast more, and to listen for the Holy Spirit’s voice. Seek Him to hear’s to say and then to obey Him.
Holy Spirit, I want to be completely ruled by and surrendered to You. Teach me to listen for and obey Your voice. Direct my steps and fill me with Your presence every day. Guide me in Your ways.
