Day 9: Prayer Focus: Wisdom for Church Leaders | 2 Chronicles 1:10
“Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours?”” (2 Chronicles 1:10)
The greatest show of wisdom is to know you need the Lord’s help. When you realize you need Him, you ask for wisdom. James promises God always delivers to the heart and mind open to receive His wisdom (James 1:5-8). God is generous to give all we need.
Your church leaders need your thoughts and prayers every day. From the pastor to the ministry leaders, they deal with the best and worst of us. When your relatives are in the hospital in the middle of the night, they answer your phone call and come to the hospital. The Bible calls for your leaders to be “instant in season and out” (2 Timothy 4:2).
Church leaders need God’s wisdom, His mind, skill, and practical knowledge to lead you well. They deal with situations they won’t tell you about, but require them to have wisdom to handle them correctly. Situations arise among the body of Christ that we can’t imagine. Even your leaders will sometimes be caught off guard.
Solomon realized with great understanding that to lead as a King of Israel well, he needed a daily dose of God’s wisdom. The Scriptures show how God blessed him with that divine wisdom. God gave him insight into situations he could not have had on his own. One specific prayer we can pray for our church leaders is heavenly wisdom in a foolish world.
