Keep God’s Word

June 23 | Revelation 2:26-27

“Now to the victor and keeper of My works until the end, I will give to him authority over the nations and he will rule them with a rod of iron, as when earthen pots are shattered,” (Revelation 2:26–27)

We have all kinds of hangups over authority. Sir John Dalberg-Action has said, “Absolute power corrupts absolutely.” Nearly every human leader has been corrupted in some way. Most people use power to abuse others. They may not start that way but that is how they are remembered.

Jesus is the only one who uses his power perfectly and properly. He is completely just in all of his dealings. He had to deal with false teachings on sexuality and idolatry in the church in Thyatira. This was one of the most rebuked churches because they let Satan in the door.

We don’t think of ourselves as letting Satan into our lives but we must be careful who we listen to. We must receive our teaching from the Lord and his Word. Become mature in Christ and know the true and pure doctrine of Christ.

The Bible says people will have itching ears in the end times and will listen to anything they like to hear rather than God’s Word. Keep the pure Word and in doctrine that pleases God. Jesus promises authority over the nations when you keep his Word and obey him.

Action Step: Don’t give Satan an inch in your life. Pay attention to gradual steps away from God. Watch what teachers you listen to. Test everything.

Jesus, keep me from all forms of idolatry. I want to keep my fleshly desires in check. Give me your power and discernment so I don’t violate your Word. Renew my mind and conformed me to Jesus.
