November 8 | Colossians 1:15-17
“Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all the earth, for by him all things were created in the heavens and on the earth – things visible and things invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities – all things were created through him and for him, he is both before everything and all things hold together in him,” (Colossians 1:15–17)
Rarely have I heard words so descriptive and beautiful about Jesus. He is matchless in His glory. Words cannot fully express His glory. And yet when I read some of the elevated language in the Bible about Jesus it only encourages me to find words of my own to worship Him.
Many Christians have learned how to pray Scripture. But how often have you worshiped scriptures like these before the Lord? He is worthy because he helps us see God. He existed before creation, and was a large part of creating everything we see.
He is the powerful Word of God that spoke creation into existence. He created every creature, even those that stand in defiance against Him now. But they are under His feet. Creation bows to Jesus and serves Him.
He holds everything in this universe together. He is the glue of creation. Such beautiful language expresses deep spiritual truths about Jesus. It shows us He is beyond worthy of all your praise. How can you express your worship to Him today?
Action Step: Worship Jesus beginning with Paul’s expression in this passage. But use it as a springboard to form your own expressions because Jesus is worthy of your thoughts and words. Make it personal.
King Jesus, You are worthy of all my praise. You were, You are, and You are coming soon. Although words cannot fully express my love for You I will give it my very best attempt. Made You feel the gravity of my love for You.
