Glue of Creation

February 15 | Colossians 1:15-17

“Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all the earth, for by Him all things were created in the heavens and on the earth – things visible and things invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities – all things were created through Him and for Him, He is both before everything and all things hold together in Him,” (Colossians 1:15–17)

St. Augustine said, “Our hearts are restless until the rest in You.” People search for God in pleasures and comforts. Everything from alcohol to love has replaced God in human hearts since the beginning.

But Jesus is above these things. Everything was created for Him. Everything in creation serves and worships Him. We will either serve and worship Jesus now, or we will bow the knee when He returns in His glory.

Jesus is unlike anyone else. He makes the invisible God visible. He is God incarnate, coming in a body to save His creation. But the best part is that He is the glue that holds the universe and everything in it together. Without Jesus, no one exists.

Scientists talk about how small we are in the universe. But we feel small when we think of Jesus’s greatness. He sustains and holds together creation. He is our physical life, and He gives us eternal life.

Action Step: Ponder the greatness of Jesus in your life. Where would you be without Him? Thank Him for holding you and all of the universe together. Thank Him for coming to earth and showing you who God is.

Lord Jesus, You are preeminent, overall creation and everything in it. Whether I can see these things are not, You control them all. Thank You for Your Lordship over me. Thank You for my life, physical and eternal.
