July 23 | Luke 5:23-24
“What is easier, to say ‘”Your sins have been forgiven” or to say, ‘Arise and walk’ But for the purpose that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins” – he said to the one who had been paralyzed, “I say to you, arise, lift up your sleeping mat, going to your home.”” (Luke 5:23–24)
We have a habit of complicating things. I overthink just about everything the first time around. We grow up in a culture that wants to analyze and explain everything to death. But we don’t have to understand everything God does.
Jesus was teaching in a person’s house. Everyone gasped as the roof opened up and a paralytic man was lowered to Jesus’ feet. Four good friends had faith that if they could put this man before Jesus, Jesus would heal him.
How far does your faith go? What lengths will you go to experience Jesus’ healing? But when Jesus saw him, He wanted to make a point about his authority. Jesus has all authority in heaven and on earth. His name is greater than your sickness.
Jesus heals you completely. If there is sin in you, He forgives you. If there is demonic activity He delivers you. And if your body needs healing, He heals you. To Jesus, there’s no difference because His power conquers all.
Jesus sees a paralyzed man and forgives his sins. Everyone expected Him to heal the man. So Jesus healed his soul and body, forgiving his sins and making him walk. Jesus wants to show His power in you too.
Action Step: Jesus has power and authority to heal your body. There is nothing He can’t do. Your impossible is His possible. Believe and receive His healing.
Mighty Jesus, I lay my body at Your feet. I know you have authority over my sickness. Everything in creation bows to You. Heal me from this disease and do Your complete work in me
