God’s Plans

January 16 | Jeremiah 29:11

Daily Bread

“For I Myself am revealing the plans I am weaving for you, declares the Lord, plans for peace and not evil, to give to you a future and hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

At the beginning of the year many people make resolutions and plans. They have ideas of how to make themselves better, set goals, and plan for their future. Being future minded isn’t a crime. But God has plans for your life too.

We spend so much time planning for our future, but we don’t always reach our goals. I fall short of my goals almost every year, but I’m closer to meeting them in the next year. God’s goals for our lives become reality. He doesn’t miss the mark.

Many people use Jeremiah 29:11 as God blessing their plans. But that’s not what it’s about. God had plans for Israel. It’s not about the blessing Israel receives from God’s plans, although He outlines them.

God is glorified in His plans for you. You receive the blessings and benefits, but He is glorified in His vision for you. God is not vindictive. His plans bring prosperity, goodness, hope, and a future. Our plans may not work out, but God wants a bright future for us.

Action Step: Seek God and find out His plans for this year. What is the Holy Spirit putting on the docket for you? How will He change your character? You are becoming more like Jesus every day as you obey the Spirit.

Lord, thank You for the bright future You are planning for me. Thank You for the hope You bring me. I want my future to be what You are making it to be. I praise You because You love and prosper me. May You be glorified in everything I do this year.
