God’s Display

September 3 | John 9:3

“Jesus answered, “Neither he sinned nor his parents, rather so that the works of God might be revealed in him.” (John 9:3)

I have been legally blind all my life. I was born with cataracts in both eyes. I don’t let it get in the way. Sometimes I don’t realize how bad my eyes are until somebody points something out and I can’t see it.

In His travels Jesus sees a man blind from birth. His disciples want to carry on scholarly discussion about whose fault the man’s blindness is. Since he was born blind they asked if the parents were at fault.

Next they asked if the man is at fault. How can a man be at fault for his blindness from birth? Jesus gives an incredible answer. He said the man was blind so he could display the works of God.

How do we display God’s works in our suffering and sickness? The man was about to show God’s glory through his healing. God would get the glory from everyone who knew him all those years.

People have seen me in a bed and wheelchair for eight years now. When I am walking with no ventilator they will be amazed at what God does. In the middle of your suffering and sickness remember that it is for God’s glory when He heals you.

Action Step: Thank God for your healing now. Thank him for the suffering not because it’s pleasant, or you enjoy it but because of the glory and praise you will give Him when he Moves on Your Behalf.

Jesus, thank you for my healing, the ending of my suffering and pain. I give You praise now for what You are about to do. May I display Your works in me as I trust in You and serve You until then.
