January 4 | Romans 8:28-30

“Now we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His plan. Because those He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to His Son’s image, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers, and those whom He predestined, these He also called, and those whom He called, these He also justified, and those whom He justified, these He also glorified.” (Romans 8:28-30)
Productivity gurus tout the year’s beginning as the best time to reset our agenda, goals, hopes, and dreams. But have you ever thought of God’s agenda for this year? The Bible says God has set you up for success in your walk with Him.
In the middle of explaining how the Spirit, Son, and Father are for you, Paul tells you God’s plan for your life. God makes all things work together for the good of those who love Him. When you were a kid, did your parents give you everything you wanted? God’s the same way.
He works things together for good, even if they hurt for a while. His agenda is your holiness. That involves growing pains. But it’s going to be good because God is good. His program gets you from called to glorified “according to His purpose,” not yours.
God calls you to Himself, conforms you to Christ, justifies you by faith, and glorifies you for Himself. It’s all about Him. What an amazing ride!
Action Step: Ask God His agenda for you this year. Is there something for you to do for Him? Will you be in His presence more? You get the blessings of His agenda working in you.
Lord, You’re in charge of the changes You make in me this year. I will follow Your lead and obey Your Spirit. Guide me into Your presence and make me holy like You.
